Hermania all began one night when a group called the Heartbeats were playing at a youth club Herman (Peter Blair Denis Bernard Noone) frequented. They were short one singer and Herman stepped in, sang and was immediately accepted into the group - which became famous as Herman's Hermits.


  Herman was born Pete Noone in Manchester, England, on November 5, 1947. He began his career by combining acting with singing lessons at the Manchester School
of Music.
  Karl Green, bass guitarist, was born in Manchester on July 31, 1947. He got his first guitar when he was ten years old. He also plays the harmonica.   Derek Leckenby (Lek), lead and rhythm guitarist, was born in Manchester on May 14, 1945. He attended Manchester University, where he studied civil engineering for two years.   Barry Whitwam, drummer, was born in Manchester on July 21, 1946. Barry entered show business when he was 13, playing at the Month Club.   Keith Hopwood, lead and rhythm guitarist, was born on October 26, 1946. After leaving school, he worked for the local telephone company.
