JUST CAN'T BELIEVE all the fabulous things that are happening to me and to my family as a result of the fantastic interest you wonderful Americans have taken in us!
First off, I wrote in the September issue of 16 how much I adore my little sister, Suzanne (the same issue that my new home in Roby, Liverpool, was mentioned). Well, in no time at all our house was literally flooded with lovely letters and gifts from you - mostly for meself and "Sooty" (that's me nick for Suzanne). Now, it's a neck-and-neck race to see who gets the most mail at home - me or Suzanne (I'll use her proper name for this article).
Though she is only 20 months old, Suzanne is completely aware of your magnificent generosity and is thrilled by every letter and gift she receives. Suzanne was born in Manchester on January 20, 1964. Her coloring is hard to describe because it keeps changing. First, her hair was almost black, then it turned auburn, and now it is fair like mine. Her eyes are light blue in the daytime and dark blue at night. Before she was born, I wanted to name her Tracey Ann, but mum said that if it was a girl my older sister, Denise, could name her -and if it was a boy, I could pick a name. Well, Suzanne was very much a girl, but I still wanted to name her meself. That's why I made up the name "Sooty." It has no significance otherwise, and I am the only one who calls her that.
What does she call me? Shall I tell? You promise you won't tease me about it? O.K. - Suzanne calls me luvvy Herman!
Before all you Statesiders began to shower her with those beautiful gifts, her favorite toy was a huge stuffed dog. I brought her back from my first trip to America. Suzanne hugged and kissed her doggie and it became her "sleeping bag." Now, she has hundreds of new toys, but mum tells me her fave is still my doggie!
As a result of all the attention you have given Suzanne, she has been asked to do photographer's modeling for children's clothes. She has done several highly successful "assignments" and there are many more to come. She's a regular ham and loves posing for her pictures. Suzanne was also honored by a TV show done on her by our local station. It was called Mrs. Noone You've Got A Lovely Daughter, and it showed Suzanne opening some of her letters and gifts. After the show she got showered with more modeling offers. One man even wanted to make a "Suzanne Doll" like her! Finally, mum got a call from a movie company in America about Suzanne doing a movie!
All of this is overwhelming and exciting - for all of us Noones - but I have recently made a very important decision about Suzanne. If she continues to show the interest and enthusiasm she now has for modeling, she will certainly be allowed to go on with it. If she wishes to try movies when she is a year older, she can do that, too. She can enjoy all of these things as long as they are fun for her and not work. I want her to do things only if she wants to. And if she does want to, you know she's going to need a manager to guide her "career." I know of a likely prospect: he's young, experienced about show-biz and deeply interested - namely me, Peter Blair Denis Bernard Noone, also known as 'erman!
