- and his HERMITS are here!

GREETINGS!
I'm Herman (my real name is Peter Blair Denis Bernard Noone), and arriving in America was the greatest thrill of my life - all 17 years of it! As you know, the boys and myself got known here through a little ditty on MGM Records called I'm Into Something Good - and we certainly were. Next, we optimistically asked you Stateside teeners to Show Me Girl. And you've been nothing short of fab in showing us that you like us.
Our brief visit here was mainly to tape a Shindig segment, meet deejays and get a first-hand story for you in 16. I'm not really leader of the group. There isn't one. I'll stick my neck out and give you the inside line on the fellows, though. Here they are, left to right:
Barry Whitwam is our 18-year-old drummer. He's almost six feet tall and has brown eyes and medium brown hair. I call him the "fighter in the group." Every day we have some sort of friendly run-in and Barry settles things. He could smash us all and knock us cold, but he never has to! He likes keen dressers and girls who have beautiful speaking voices. He hates snobs.
Seventeen-year-old Karl Anthony (bass guitarist) and myself are the only two members of the original group - the Heartbeats - to survive and go into Hermania. Karl is most like me. He'll do anything for a laugh. His hobby is collecting money and he's dying to own a posh Mercedes car. He digs really hot curry and small birds with lots of eye make-up and long black hair. The Latin-type, I suppose.
That creature in the middle is me. I was born November 5, 1947, and am the youngest member. I play a bit of piano, but mostly I sing and clap. Actually, I think the guys value me most as a van watcher. They are always off somewhere, while I get lumbered with the job of making sure no one drives off with our gear. I hate walking in traffic (and New York almost did me in!), and I love girls who are individuals and don't look or act like any other girl.

Keith Hopwood (born October 26, 1946, in Manchester) has blue eyes, brown hair and plays lead and rhythm guitar. he wasn't good at school, so he had to turn to music. He's wild for kitty-cats and has one named "Smokey." He hates conceited people and won't date girls who wear a lot of make-up. He wants to see what he's getting!
Derek "Lek" Leckenby (lead and rhythm guitar, too) is the oldest in the group, so, naturally he's got a big head. He came in the other day and said, "Herman, I just met Sir Laurence Olivier in the street and he was asking after you. I told him that you had given up acting and he said he was sorry to hear it." Very funny - and the other guys broke up! I met Lek in the Cavern in Manchester - which, by the way, is a great place. Knocks spots off the one in Liverpool, in my opinion.
Well, there we are. If you wish, write to us in care of Mal Braverman, 15 East 48th St., New York City.
