He was born on November 5th, 1947, in Manchester. He started singing lessons when he was fourteen and kept it up for two years. He was mad keen on pop discs.
    One day at a local youth club he stood in with the group playing there because they were short of a singer. That group was called The Heartbeats. Now, with that same stand-in singer, then sixteen years old, now seventeen, and the group re-named Herman's Hermits, they're making hearts beat faster all round the country.
    That's the Peter Noone story - the Herman story, the wonder story of the first disc, "I'm Into Something Good", which became a number one hit.
