Herman - real name Peter Blair Denis Bernard Noone - was born in Manchester on Guy Fawkes Day 1947. When he was eleven he went to Manchester School of Music and began appearing in TV plays and serials, including 'Coronation Street'.
His keeness on pop music took him to many local clubs, and one night he deputized for the singer in a group called 'The Heartbeats'. He was then about sixteen. The group was renamed 'Herman's Hermits' and hits like 'I'm Into Something Good', 'Just A Little Bit Better', and many others, followed quickly.
The group has toured Canada and America with great success and also appeared in films - this photograph was taken on the set of their latest film, MGM's Hold On.
