HERMAN'S HERMITS
Although amazingly big in the States, Herman's Hermits have lost a lot of ground in England lately. Probably this is because their records are usually made for the American market, where Herman's sheepdog-type face can do no wrong. Herman could easily do without the Hermits, but they could not get far without him. The group first came to fame with a cover of an American blues hit, "I'm Into Something Good". But it was their comical interpretations of English music-hall songs like "Mrs. Brown" that really took them to the top. Herman is now a millionaire - he owes a lot to his producer, Mickie Most, who invariably comes up with the right record at the right time. Herman's Hermits are not highly regarded by their fellow stars who regard the Hermits' music as "old hat". But it does not seem to worry Herman - he laughs all the way to wherever he's going. Good luck to him. Incidentally, Herman has made a somewhat regrettable film debut - he hopes to make up for this in the near future.
