Taking a look at the people behind the figures in the
Spotlight - the Golden Boys and what they are really like!

Herman started off as a child actor, and for quite a time was a bonus attraction when he was in "Coronation Street" on the telly! Young, smart and trendy - that's our Herman. "We don't have any great message in our music," he says. "It's just meant to entertain people and make them feel happy." With his gap-toothed grin, Herman smiles his way through life. He's not a madly complicated person, and he doesn't like arguments - in fact he'll do anything to avoid them! "I started very young," he admits, "and that's helped me as I'm often much younger than the people that I'm singing to! I can understand how they look at things." He was born Peter Blair Denis Bernard Noone in Manchester on Guy Fawkes Day 1947. But that was a bit much for anyone, and so he was given the nickname "Sherman". One day someone got the name wrong and he's been "Herman" ever since! He's making films and records and has a pretty busy life. "I don't spend nearly enough time in Britain," he confesses. "I fly back as quickly as possible after a tour, but that still doesn't make much time here. I do a lot of work in America and other places, and everywhere that I go, people say to me that I don't spend enough time in their own country! It's very flattering and nice that they all seem to want me!" |
