Herman proved a very good subject for our "What D'You Think About Yourself?" series for he is honest, open and frank. In fact in the words of Burns he seems to "have the power to see himself as others see him."
After you've studied his answers, ask yourself how you would stand up to such a barrage of searching and sometimes loaded questions!

Do I consider myself to be -
Satisfied with my appearance?

I'd like to be a shade heavier in weight. Partly because at present, I can't wear ready-made suits.
Attractive to girls?
Well, I'm good at making friends but I never seem to keep them as girlfriends more than a couple of days.
Argumentative?
Yes, I love a good argument. I'd do anything to provoke a heated discussion. The Hermits will tell you this is my worst fault I expect - but I argue just for kicks.
Good at remembering?
If someone told me their phone number and asked me to ring them, I'd remember the former but not the latter! Apart from being able to remember telephone numbers, my memory isn't my strong point. What it'll be like when I'm 99 I hate to think!
Good tempered?
Reasonably so. I sometimes pretend to feel more strongly than I do just to get a discussion going.
Superstitious?
Yes, I believe in astrology, witchcraft, voodoos and I try not to do the things which are considered "unlucky" - though I don't mind walking under ladders. It makes my day if a black cat walks in front of me.
Ambitious?
Yes, I want to be able to do and have everything I wish for. At present this ambition is fulfilled but who knows what I will want tomorrow?
Self-sufficient?
If I was on a desert island I'd be quite happy (I think!) with one person to talk to and a radio set with an everlasting battery.
A reformer?
If I was Prime Minister what would I want to change? I guess most things but I can't think of anything specially urgent - just a fair deal for the underdog in a general way, I think.
Generous?
Yes, about average. Though I think charity begins at home and I really enjoy giving presents to my family.
Diplomatic?
Yes, I can be tactful if I'm not over-tired. It's when I'm worn out that my lapses occur and I drop the "clangers."
Cheerful?
I'm cheerful by nature but, as in my last answer, I can get a bit down if I've been overworked or been travelling all night. Usually it only takes me an hour or so to revive my normal spirits.
Lazy?
No, this isn't a fault of mine. In fact I can't just sit around idling. If I've got a moment to spare I'd grab a book - even a general knowledge book or an encyclopedia - rather than waste valuable time.
Strong-willed?
I used to think I was but since I've tried to give up smoking I'm not at all sure. I'm in the

throes of another effort now. I stopped about ten minutes ago!
Tidy?
I look after my cothes, hang them up, brush them and see that they are pressed and so on. But this is about the only thing I am tidy about - but I'm trying hard to improve.
Well-dressed?
I dress the way I like - so I suppose it's natural to think I'm well dressed.
Business-like?
Yes, I always look after my own affairs and I seem to manage all right.
Punctual?
I always keep a little time in hand so as to allow for any unpredictible delay. In this way I keep appointments better than most though it often means I have to go and have a coffee if I arrive too early for a date.
Sentimental?
Yes, I think so. I like to recall happy memories from the past, although I'm only seventeen! My latest film is a romantic one and I enjoyed every minute of it. I think we need more romance in life today.
Proud?
I'm proud that I've done more good things than bad ones - and that I've made a success of show business.
A Good Mixer?
Yes, I love meeting people of every sort and get on very well with them all. This meeting people is one of the things I most enjoy about my work.
Logical?
Fairly. But only fairly for I don't suppose it's very logical to own a car which is too big for London and only does 12 miles per gallon.
Forgiving?
Too much so, I'm afraid. I let people get away with things that I should be firmer about.
Old-Fashioned?
No, I live in the present. I don't specially like antiques but I do dig modern things, labour-saving gadgets, contemporary furniture and things of modern, even off-beat design.
A good gambler?
I'm an irresponsible gambler who doesn't moan if he loses ... but then I usually win! I like to try to beat the odds at roulette or with horses, or with almost anything else one can gamble on - such as a new record! After all life is just one huge gamble, isn't it?
Athletic?
I enjoyed most sports at school but now I'm left with swimming as my only sporting pastime though I still enjoy watching football whenever I get the chance.
Artistic?
I can't draw for toffee but I'd very much like to be able to - and to paint as well.
A gourmet?
Not really, but I do dig Afghanistan steak and curry.
Imaginative?
Yes, I think I score ten out of ten for this - and I dislike people without vivid imaginations.

"I can't draw for toffee, and here's a sample
to prove it," says Herman
