Now Herman Gets Two Film Offers!

HERMAN'S HERMITS, on the last lap of their smash tour of America, are in line to appear in two American films! Danny Betesh, their agent, flew to America on Whit Sunday for a two-day trip to negotiate these and other deals for Herman.
"I must stress that the films are only in the negotiating stages," said Danny, "but the first film 'Girl Crazy' is the MGM film, which apart from starring Herman's Hermits, would include Connie Francis, Paul Anka, Jack Jones, and Louis Armstrong.
The second Hollywood film for Herman - also in the early negotiation stages - would be for early next year. Plans are for the group to appear in a remake of "Goodbye, Mr. Chips," starring Rex Harrison and Julie Andrews.
On Whit Sunday, Herman's Hermits were due to star on "The Ed Sullivan Show", and they return to Britain in the middle of June. Their last working date in America is June 13. Altogether, they will have been there for seven weeks.
FOOTNOTE: The Press office of MGM - which is making "Girl Crazy" - have just announced that Herman's Hermits have, in fact, been signed for "Girl Crazy." It adds that the film will be shot at their Culver City Studios.

As the sleeve-note says, Herman has the "boy next door" - "youngest son" - "young brother" image to the ladies of varying age groups, and that's the secret of his charm and success.
His voice is not wonderful, but the impish personality behind it compensates for its lack of singing power and skill. Most of this selection is carefully chosen and done without taxing Herman's vocal chords, and the only drag track is "I Wonder," which is too slow and balladic for him to tackle successfully.
The Hermits provide some earsome instrumental sounds throughout, and Herman's double-tracking in places helps the quality of his singing. There's also a folky element in the album which is in tune with current fashion.

HERMAN - His voice may not be great,
but he can certainly put over a song.
