Last year was the year of the Stones. The year before belonged to the Beatles. Who is it going to be this year?
At just past the half-way mark, I'd say it's a toss-up between Donovan and Herman.
And, if you actually asked me to toss the coin I'm sure it'd come down in favour of Mr. Noone
He has had major hits here and in the U.S., his disc of "Mrs. Brown, You've Got A Lovely Daughter," had the most amazing advance orders ever.
He's liked by all age-groups and by both sexes. Girls because he looks like he needs mothering. Boys like Herman 'cause life's a laugh and he gets into scrapes.
I know, for I spent a night in the nick with him.
But the main thing is that he's always happy, and he's full of personality. This counts in the long run.
You'll never find Herman at a loss for words, so he's often interviewed on telly and a lot gets written about him.
And, apart from being good fellas, his backing group know their job, have interesting acts of their own, plus individual personalities.
I reckon Herman will develop into someone like Cliff, and the Hermits a more modern Shadows.
They've already done a good panto together and I can tell you films are being planned.
Yes, I've almost convinced myself, even. Herman is going to be the biggest thing in 1965.
    I hope I'm not wrong.
