DAYTON, OHIO - Local school officials have turned thumbs down on a Herman's Hermits concert at a school operated stadium here.
On July 28th, the Hermits were slated to appear at the local fairgrounds for a show, but advance ticket sales were so great that the promoters immediately sought larger facilities.
They went to Welcome Stadium, which is run by the Dayton Board of Education. After a huddle, the Board issued the unwelcome sign at the stadium for the popular British singing group.
Board member Dr. Theodore Light said the Hermits performance "wouldn't necessarily benefit the community," hence the turn-down.
Undaunted though, Herman and the boys did appear at the fairgrounds . . . much to the regret of Welcome Stadium and local school officials.
