Hermits Reveal: We're A Hoax!

Peter Noone, the Herman of Herman's Hermits, admitted to this reporter that he and the boys really are pulling the legs of their teenage public, and that the whole repertory of the group is a hoax.
"We know that our music is a lot of nonsense," said Herman, "but if that is what the public wants, we'll give it to them."
Young Herman, leader of the most popular singing group in the world, shocked this reporter with the disclosure that he wasn't really serious about his work except to make a good fast million dollars or more.
Herman, age 17; Karl Green, age 18; Keith Hopwood, 18 years young; Derek Leckenby, age 19 and Barry Whitwam, who just passed 18 are young, ambitious and money hungry. As teensters you can't blame them for this attitude. They want to make or break it before they reach 21 and they bode to be the first foursome that age to do it in entertainment history!
There will be no ending their quest for personal fortunes since they have tasted the
first sweet smell of success. The whole idea was to take some old English songs long out of date and brush them up with the latest swinging sound.
The best example of this was "Henry VIII, I Am" and a further offering known as "Mrs. Brown, You've Got A Lovely Daughter."
The gimmick is great and the teenagers and adults alike "eat it up" Herman told this reporter.
BEATLES THROUGH
When asked about his opinion of the Beatles Herman told me that he thinks the Beatles are through and have had it as a singing organization. The leader of this famous young singing group lounged on the sofa in his London hotel suite and had a stiff cola drink while rattling off the comments about the Beatles. His mood seemed to change with the minutes. Already at age 17, the leader of this bunch seemed at ease, poised and truly a business entrepreneur.
"We know where our appeal lies," Herman said confidently. "Most all our fans are women and we admit they are who we appeal to. No one believed us when we first started that we could capture every female heart with such simple songs. But the simpler, the better, I've always believed. The more corny you make your stuff the more these gals devour it. We exist on corn. That's the source of our livlihood."
When asked whether he intends to keep it going, Herman replied, "You don't think we would bite the hands that feed us. We have a good thing going and we know it."
RIPPING CLOTHES
Herman appeared to be a little tired of some of the teenage fans ripping his clothes to bits, tearing at their personal belongings and "making fools of themselves."
"Some rock groups make a fettish of liking all this adoration and public ranting and raving. I never did and never will. I might as well admit to that," Herman added seriously.
"When the public becomes so wild as to be completely uncontrollable, then I never could stomach that."
Herman told me that he appreciates appearing in America simply because that is where the money is to be made.
