Herman of the Hermits is actually a cute, cute song and dance man named Peter Blair Bernard Noone. This young Englishman has "popped" the American pop scene like no one has since The Beatles did it. Peter has the presence of an actor, and that's because he really is one! He has yellow hair, slightly on the long side, sea-blue eyes and above all, the wide grin which makes him look like a little boy, even though he's 19. His personality immediately connects with any audience he is facing. Stage front, he is spotlighted as he dances, sings, jigs, claps his hands, improvises, waves to the audience and gets it to sing with him. He entered show business when he was 11, acting in one of England's favorite TV soap operas. Besides singing and acting, Peter also plays the guitar and piano. Asked if he ever thinks of marriage, Herman replied, "Not yet, but I would like to meet a girl I could marry later on. It'd be nice if she were a blond." He doesn't think it would affect the group if one of the boys got married. "It would be different somehow, but I'm sure we'd still have fun." The songs that Herman's Hermits sing are mostly English music hall songs which were popular over 50 years ago. The tunes are now part of today's scene - and they never sounded better! |
