Does Herman Know Peter Noone? Is he really lonely or ...?

People who are close to Herman are the ones who know how he really feels. A person like Herman, who is constantly traveling, leads a lonesome life. He has never had a special girl; he has little time for one now. When he is in England he dates two girls named Lulu and Twinkle. When he is traveling, he double-dates with other guys from the group, but spends much of his time alone listening to Mozart string quartets. He calls this his "thinking music."

Very Much Aware

Herman is very much aware of the world, and he is constantly noticing new things. He will often stop and contemplate the things he sees around him. He tries to make the buildings, art, music and people a part of him. In addition, he has a businesslike mind, and is good at figuring.

Wild Shopping Spree

Herman loves to go on wild shopping sprees, and often buys fifteen or twenty items at a time. He always ends up with piles of hats, and many pairs of sunglasses and boots. He never forgets to buy a gift for his two-year old sister, Suzanne.

Concerned About His Fans

He is always concerned about his fans and what they think. Unlike many other singers, he never ignores them. Recently, when he was being pursued by a mob in Hollywood, he heard a girl scream, and stopped to see if she was in trouble. It was not an emergency, but he hesitated long enough to give her his autograph on the tennis shoe that she thrust in front of his face. He loves to read all the letters he receives and since he can't read them all, he feels them with his fingers and opens the waddy ones. He is dumbfounded by his multitude of fans and the things he finds inside their envelopes: chewing gum, snapshots, earrings, thirty-two page letters, handkerchiefs saturated with perfume, and scraps of paper labeled "teardrops."

"No One Really Knows Me"

There is no other person like Herman, and no other face like Herman's. He is even amazed by it himself! He stares in the mirror and says, "People don't really know me. In fact, I don't even know me."
At public concerts Herman does not try to be mysterious and stand-offish. He becomes very intimate and tries to and does often reach fifteen-thousand fans at once. He says that he is very frustrated because he always sees girls in crowds that he would like to know, but doesn't know how to reach them. He likes to hear the girls sing along with him. Herman says, "I have a feeling for them - need I say more?"
