  WOULD you believe that Herman is getting a bigger nose? That by some time during the coming Christmas season his nose is going to be so big - he won't be able to walk sideways through a door? Well, it's true! But it's not as bad as it sounds, because there's a perfectly good reason for it.You see, Herman's going to be starring in a "Hallmark Hall of Fame" Christmas Holiday special. And the name of it is "Pinocchio!" Herman's very excited about the chance to act the part of the puppet whose nose grew 'cause he told lies! He thinks it'll be really fun to do something so completely different from what he's been doing up to now. Herman's especially looking forward to acting with Art Carney, who plays the part of Papa Gepetto, the wood carver who made Pinocchio. That's because Herman thinks Art Carney's such a good actor. Herm will have a chance to pick up acting tricks and hints, as well. Herman thinks it'll be a blast to see how he looks with a bigger nose, too. Of course, all the other Hermits tease him about it and kid around. They say a big nose suits his face! But Herman doesn't mind. He's got his own joke planned as a way of teasing them. Herm thinks it'll be fun if one day he attaches the nose really well with glue so it can't be pulled off. Then he'll come in and make believe that he's worn it for so long at rehearsals, it finally did become permanently attached! It ought to be a funny joke. Herm expects to get his share of kidding from all the people on the set. All the studio technicians and the other actors are already promising to get him a sheet-size handkerchief for Christmas! One of the cameramen kids around by gasping and choking - 'cause Herm is supposedly taking up all the air in the studio! Herm, instead of minding, considers it fun to be getting all that attention! And it's great to act as well as sing again, he thinks! It will be great to see and hear him again, too! |
 Betcha didn't know that HERMAN'S HERMITS was once known as PETE NOVAK AND THE HEARTBEATS. Peter Blair Noone (Herman, to his fans) was Novak - natch! They changed to Herman's Hermits because they wanted the most unusual name they could find. Of course, their name change didn't bring them success ... but their first hit did!!! |
