Sorry girls, but there's no competition! Suzanne Noone's the only female
who holds Herman's heart. And she's not letting go!

The Girl Who Gets Herman's Kisses     With her fair ringlets and dimpled grin she looks just like Shirley Temple ("Prettier," insists Herman). No wonder the Hollywood producer is entranced. "Herman," he says, watching the young man hug and kiss the tiny beauty. "Suzanne should be in the movies. We'd like to give her a screen test."
But Herman is adamant. Model? Fine. But work in the movies? "Give her another year. Then if she wants to try movies, okay." With that, Herman hoists Suzanne up on his shoulders, she playfully slaps his face - and the two of them disappear from the set ... As they enter the MGM commissary, an attractive woman joins them. Mummy. Their mum. Herman swings Suzanne down onto her mother's lap, but the little girl clutches at her big brother. "Petah - I want Petah," she cries.
For Suzanne, the girl Herman is dedicating his next record to, is only 2 years old. (She was a mere 1 1/2 when she visited him in America). And sometimes she forgets that her brother - Peter Blair Denis Bernard Noone - is now known as Herman. But she never forgets, no matter how many months he's gone from their beautiful new home in Liverpool, how much she loves him. In fact, she loves Peter-Herman so much that she calls anyone who's with him often - his male manager or a female press-agent - Petah! And when he dials her long-distance from Australia or Japan to ask, "Do you miss me?" or "Been a good girl?" - she becomes so excited she blurts out her pet name for him: Lubby Lubby Herman!
Herman has a pet name for Suzanne, too: Sooty - which goes back to before her birth. According to Mrs. Noone, her son "was absolutely thrilled to bits when he learned I was pregnant." Herman was promised he could name the new baby if it was a boy; his older sister, Denise - 20, married, and the mother of a little boy - could choose the name if it was a girl. "Well Suzanne was very much a girl," Herman says with a laugh, "but I still wanted to name her m'self. That's why I made up the name sooty.
If you get the impression Herman is the most important person in Suzanne's life, you're probably right. "He's like a new daddy with a new baby," explained his proud mother. "If she was his own baby he couldn't love her more."
There are times, however, when Suzanne misbehaves and Peter reacts more like an embarrassed brother than a doting dad! Like the day they were filming a beach scene for Hold On. Herman, not needed in the scene had brought Suzanne on the set to watch. For some reason, she chose that day to be whiny, and Herman just didn't know what to do. He tried making faces at her and saying "Suzy, smile," which always worked at home - but she whimpered even more. Finally, in exasperation, herman moaned, "I should have left her with Mother."
Not that is is usual behavior for Suzanne. A very warm and happy little girl, she would get attention even if she didn't have a famous brother. Just because she's so pretty. And lively. And a ham.
In America with her mother and accountant dad, Suzanne sat in the audience while Herman did the Sullivan Show and Hullabaloo. She never took her eyes off him as he sang directly to her. Were his fans jealous? Absolutely no. In fact, they used Suzanne to show their love for Herman.
They showered her with so many gifts - over 400 toys! - that the Noones had to take the Queen Mary back instead of a plane.
At home, as a result of all this attention, Suzanne was asked to model. She is now one of the busiest child models in England. She's also one of the best, because "showing off" comes naturally to her. When she's introduced to someone new, she automatically smiles, then turns around to show her back as well! Sometimes she'll lift up her frock to show the frills on her panties!
When Herman was named one of 10 Best-Dressed Men, a local TV station decided to honor him with a show starring his sister. Suzanne, all poise, sat on the floor of the Noone home opening her letters and gifts - while the TV cameras ground away. The show called Mrs. Noone, You've Got A Lovely Daughter, was a hit.
Although Herman doesn't have an individual girlfriend, sometimes five or six will drop by the house at one time. If he isn't there, the girls will ask for Suzanne and take her to the shop for sweets.
All of which could make Suzanne a very spoiled little girl, except for one thing; Mr. and Mrs. Noone are expecting another baby. Mrs. Noone says, "Herman would like a brother, of course. But he's told me, 'If it's a little girl and half as nice as Suzanne, I'll be thrilled to bits.' So Suzanne has nothing to worry about.
