PETER Blair Denis Bernard Noone was born lucky. His mother and father, Joan and Denis, gave him more than love. They encouraged his every dream and ambition. When the acting bug bit him, they made sure he got the training (Manchester School of Music) and saw to it he was on time for the all important auditions that won him roles in the BBC's Coronation Street and Saki programs.
And today, as Herman, he's reaping the benefits of their foresight. And the benefits are indeed hefty. In dollars and cents, the Hermits grossed over $2,000,000 in America alone last year. And Herman's Hermits didn't lack for honors either. Cashbox named them the Best Vocal Group of 1965. So did Billboard magazine. And Herman was named to Britain's ten best dressed men list.
Now with Herman running so far ahead, what more could he want?
Could he want more than anything else a very special girl of his own? Maybe. But insiders report, "Peter never dates one girl at a time, usually five or six." At 18, Herm isn't spending too much dream time on "the right one."
Perhaps Herman wants that car that'll really set him apart. Hardly. He recently bought himself a flashy blue sports job - and proceeded to lose his license the first day out. He got a chauffeur instead.
Could Herman be wanting to break away from the Hermits to do a single? Now HOLD ON! (incidentally, that's the title of HH's new fab flick for MGM.) Herm was offered the Tommy Steele role in Half A Sixpence on Broadway when Tommy leaves, but turned it down because there were no parts for Karl, Barry, Lek and Keith.
Give up? Peter Blair Denis Bernard Noone wants more than anything else something that money, fame and all the personality in the world can't buy. He wants a baby brother. With 2 sisters, Denise, 21 and Suzanne, 3, this seems logical enough. And with Mrs. Noone expecting her 4th child any day now, seems Herm's big wish has a big chance of coming true.
Yet Herman's prepared for another sister should it work out that way: "If she's half as cute as Suzanne, I'll love her to bits." And Herm's mum is also prepared. "If it's a girl, we'll try again. That's the one thing only your parents can give you!"
