Herman's Hermits

In the space of nine months, Herman's Hermits have become one of the most popular groups in Manchester and the north of England. Mickie Most, independent record producer, travelled to Bolton to see them, then signed them to a recording contract. And with their very first record - "I'm Into Something Good" on Columbia D.B.7338 - Herman's Hermits follow in the footsteps of Mickie's other groups, The Animals and The Nashville Teens, each of whom have had hit records recently. Herman (real name Peter Noone) is a mere 16-year-old and was quite successful as an actor, appearing in several T.V. shows including "Coronation Street" and "Knight Errant". But he has always been keen on pops, and now he's given up acting. Karl Green (17) is on bass guitar, Derek Leckenby (21) is lead and rhythm guitarist, Barry Whitwam (18) is on drums, and Keith Hopwood (17) plays lead and rhythm guitar. That's Herman in the middle of the group picture. Cute, isn't he?

Woke up this morning feelin' fine,
Had something special on my mind.
Last night I met a new girl
In the neighbourhood. Oh yeah.
Something tells me I'm into something good.

She's the kind of girl who's not too shy.
And I can tell I'm her kind of guy.
She danced close to me,
Like I hoped she would.
Something tells me I'm Into something good.

We only danced for a minute or two,
Then she stuck close to me the whole night thro'.
Can I be fallin' in love,
But she's ev'rything I've been dreaming of.

I walked her home and she held my hand,
I knew it couldn't be just a one night stand.
So I had to see her next week,
And she told me I could.
Something tells me I'm into something good.
