In the space of nine months, Herman's Hermits have become one of the most popular groups in Manchester and the north of England. Mickie Most, independent record producer, travelled to Bolton to see them, then signed them to a recording contract. And with their very first record - "I'm Into Something Good" on Columbia D.B.7338 - Herman's Hermits follow in the footsteps of Mickie's other groups, The Animals and The Nashville Teens, each of whom have had hit records recently. Herman (real name Peter Noone) is a mere 16-year-old and was quite successful as an actor, appearing in several T.V. shows including "Coronation Street" and "Knight Errant". But he has always been keen on pops, and now he's given up acting. Karl Green (17) is on bass guitar, Derek Leckenby (21) is lead and rhythm guitarist, Barry Whitwam (18) is on drums, and Keith Hopwood (17) plays lead and rhythm guitar. That's Herman in the middle of the group picture. Cute, isn't he? |
