HERMAN'S HERMITS By the time he was 14, Peter Noone had started Herman's Hermits. When Noone was 16, the band was already a local success in Northern England (Manchester), complete with a fan club. They pursued producer Mickie Most by playing a series of gigs and sending him a prepaid ticket and a night in Manchester's biggest hotel in order to get him to see the band. Most revamped the band, including Karl Green and Keith Hopwood and adding Derek Leckenby and Barry Whitwam, obtained a record deal and the band had one hit after another. Their top songs included "Can't You Hear My Heartbeat" ('65), "Silhouettes" ('65), "Mrs. Brown, You've Got A Lovely Daughter" ('65), and "There's A Kind of Hush" ('67). |
