Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's "When The Boys Meet The Girls" is a song-filled surprise package which contains something for everyone. Two of the most popular voices in the world today, Connie Francis, No.1 feminine recording star, and Harve Presnell of "The Unsinkable Molly Brown," present such all-time hits from the Gershwin Music "Girl Crazy" as "Embraceable you," "But Not For Me" and "I've got Rhythm." In addition, Miss Francis introduces two new songs, "Mail Call" and "When The Boys Meet The Girls." Then there are Herman's Hermits, sensational young English recording group, who introduce a new number, "Listen People," revives the Gershwin standard, "Bidin' My Time." Louis Armstrong, celebrating his 50th anniversary as an entertainer, does an all-out jazz version of "I've Got Rhythm" plus one of his personal favorites, "Blow It Out Your Mind." The story of "When The Boys Meet The Girls" is about the young in heart with appeal to everyone who enjoys good music and boy-meets-girl romance. The setting is a remote Nevada college campus and the plot involves saving the old homestead. Sham and the Pharaohs, introducing "Monkey See, Monkey Do," which they wrote especially for their motion picture debut. MGM is girding itself for the second coming of Herman's Hermits. The popular British recording group, who were the cause of teenage riots at the studio when they reported for their first motion picture, "When The Boys Meet The Girls," are returning to star in "There's No Place Like Space." Although MGM has not disclosed the filming site, it is a public facility which is bound to attract swarms of teenage on-lookers, such as the 3,000 who stormed MGM Studio gates when the English beat group arrived for their motion picture debut in "When The Boys Meet The Girls." Forty special police have been assigned to maintain order. Shelley Fabares will portray the romantic interest of Herman, leader of Herman's Hermits, in the tune-filled comedy scripted by James B. Gordon. MGM has received permission from NASA to build a mockup duplicate of Gemini V for scenes with Herman's Hermits. Instead of Astronauts Conrad and Cooper, however, the ship will carry Herman and one Hermit with the other three Hermits on tether ropes outside the capsule, all singing and playing a new number, "You Put Me Into Orbit, Baby and I May Never Come Down," plus 8 others. |
