Despite the fact that Herman's Hermits grossed over $275,000 on their recent short-American tour they see very little of the money after tax-bites and expense bills.
Peter Noone took time out to talk to GO's man in London, Gerry Phillips about the financial side of the pop business over lunch last week.
Said Herman: "Most of our income still comes from the sales of our records - we've now had 14-discs in the american Top Ten.
Expenses
"True, most American tours make fortunes but expenses are so high that there's not all that much left for us.
"On our previous American tour we grossed a million dollars - but take against that the cost of hiring a private plane for six months and the expense of first-class hotels, twenty armed guards for each concert and entertainment.
"I'd believe the story once told that the Animals grossed on one american trip some $75,000 and returned to London with about $60-a-piece."
New Home
Before Herman took off on his recent Stateside tour he was spending all his free-time househunting - but to no avail.
In between television engagements in Europe and the start of his movie "Mrs. Brown You've Got A Lovely Daughter" Herman hopes to find his new home.
"I've got my eye on one just 25-miles from London" he said. "It has eight bedrooms so there's plenty of room for my mother, father and two baby sisters."
