![]() It's an old, familiar story now set to music and presented for 90 minutes this Sunday evening on NBC-TV stations. Hallmark Hall of Fame offers "Pinocchio," starring Peter Noone, 21, leader of the popular Herman's Hermits, and Burl Ives, 270-pound folk singer and star of Broadway, TV and the movies. The spectacular production stars Burl Ives as the 19th Century woodcarver Gepetto and Peter Noone (leader of Herman's Hermits) in the title role. Anita Gillette appears as the Blue Fairy. As the story goes ... Gepetto, the woodcarver, finds the log which he has carved into a figure of a small boy, actually talks. Gepetto (Burl Ives) calls it Pinocchio (Peter Noone) and urges him to meet the world. Pinocchio is taken under wing by the Blue Fairy (Anita Gillette) who warns him not to lie. If he does his nose will grow. And so it does when Pinocchio starts his fibbing. The special pre-empts "The New Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" and Disney's "wonderful World of Color." |
