Personally Speaking - by Herman's Hermits
Herman's Hermits

Herman

MY REAL name is Peter Blair Denis Bernard Noone and my greatest ambition is to earn a great deal of money so I can look after my parents and two sisters.
Also, if I had plenty of money, I would invest a great deal in Launderettes. I would like to own hundreds of them all over Britain. My only reason is that they fascinate me. That's the kind of chap I am.

I like clothes that are casual, but smart. Don't ask me why but I also like wearing size 16 collars, even though I take a size 14.
I like playing practical jokes. You will understand why I am not always popular when on tour.
Nobody ever seems to want to know what my greatest fear is. As I have been invited to say what I am like I can tell you - it is crossing the road. I don't think I shall ever own a car. Accidents upset me.
Have you ever had an Afghanistan steak? This is my favorite food. Try one and make sure you have chopped peanuts all over it. If you don't make a success of it, contact my Dad - he really knows how to do one.
Dave Brubeck and Jimmy Smith are my favorite musicians.
Wayne Fontana has been my idol for two years. We are great friends and have toured together appearing on the same bill.
I have appeared on television in several plays and at one time had ambitions to be an actor. Now I love working with the group and intend to work hard.
I treasure a great deal the first disc I made - I'm Into Something Good. I think I am.

Barry

I PLAY the drums. Working with Herman is great fun. He is always playing practical jokes. It is difficult to keep trying to think up

something new to play on him.
I used to be a ladies hairdresser.
I like girls. That's one hobby that Herman forgot to mention.
I like buying clothes and always shop in London. I am interested in material and styles.
For food I like nothing better than a gigantic salad. Herman says I remind him of a rabbit. Perhaps this has something to do with it.
I have had several thrills since becoming a Hermit. Making our first record - and of course seeing it make the number 1 spot on the charts.
Did you know that our group is unique? We own the only square yacht in the country. I made it for fun - but it floats.

Karl

I PLAY the bass guitar. I am 17. My ambition is to get to the top and stay there. I will work as hard as I can to keep the group at the top.
I have one hobby - collecting money like other people collect foreign stamps. Have no plans yet for spending any I collect.
For relaxation I like skin diving. I think this is one of the greatest sports.
I would like to own a Mercedes, but have no plans to buy one yet.
Dare I mention that I dig classical records? Of course I like Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee and most of the discs in the Top Twenty.
Foods interest me. Curry is my favorite.

Derek

I PLAY lead and rhythm guitar. Self taught. 21 years old. I am the granddad of the group.
I have always had an ambition to play the drums, but don't show any great promise of being a success at it.
I think Elvis is the greatest and I've collected everything he has ever recorded. Chet Atkins is another favorite of mine.
Sometime this year I hope to meet and talk to Chuck Berry. I think he always gives a great performance. A true professional.
When I have a few hours to myself I like nothing better than swimming or taking a car into the country, hoping to find a few roads where I can drive fast. I like the feel of the wind rushing by.
I like most foods. I really hate semolina. Even anyone saying the word makes me ill.
I would like to earn a degree in civil engineering. I like reading, and have a large collection of biographies and autobiographies.

Keith

LEAD AND rhythm guitar. 17 years old. I attended grammar school in Manchester and on leaving worked as a telephone engineer. I bought my first guitar when 14 and joined a local group at 16.
I am very fond of animals - cats in particular. My own cat is more than 12 years old.
Clothes I find interesting. Corduroy is my favorite material and I must have bought at least a dozen pairs of trousers in the past 12 months made in this material. I like to look smart and am willing to pay good money to do so.
Wild music. This is what I like to find when disc buying. I also have all the records recorded by Dionne Warwick. I think she is the greatest.
I have enjoyed every moment that I've spent touring with Herman and the gang. I have also found the greater the star is - the nicer he or she is to work with.
