A visitor on Thursday (12-4-67) at the Spring Antiques Fair, Chelsea Old Town Hall, was pop star Herman of Herman's Hermits. After touring this fair and taking a keen interest in many of the antiques on display, a dress suit of the Louis Philippe period caught his eye. The suit, with velvet tail coat, breeches, waistcoat, cocked hat and sword with cut steel hilt was on sale for £75. Unfortunately for Herman it didn't quite fit. The shoes were too tight as were the breeches and tail coat. Herman is also on the lookout for a girlfriend, not to go steady with but one to play opposite him in the film he is about to star in, "Mrs. Brown You've Got A Lovely Daughter." Also in the film will be Stanley Holloway and Robert Morley. They hope to start work on the film - a musical comedy - on May 7th. Picture shows Herman wearing the dress suit and on the stand Herman's own clothes. |
