T.K.E.?

Last time Herman was in the States he was given a big collection of T-shirts by various students' clubs.
They all have Latin and Greek mottos and crests. The one that confuses Herman the most, carries the words TAU KAPPA EPSILON.
"I forg0t to ask what it meant when the students handed it to me," said Herman. "Now, all I know is that it stands for TKE - but wheat does that mean? The only suggestion so far comes from my mum. She says the shirt comes up so well in the wash it must stand for THIS KLEANS EASILY."

BEWARE!

The other night I found Herman and Dave Berry having a backstage chat. There were masses of cream cakes in the dressing room. "I'm crazy 'bout eating them," Herman told me.

HERE, how about this for a long-distance helping hand. A 15-year-old girl wrote to me from Australia and said: "I read your column in 'The People' and can you get me to see Herman when he comes out here?"     Now that's a bit difficult, isn't it? 'cos that Australia is 12,000 miles away.
Anyway, I wrote back and said" "Give this letter to any of Herman's managers or anybody connected, and keep your fingers crossed."
In her letter I put a note to Herman saying: "Try and see her for a few minutes."
Lo and behold, last week I got a delirious letter back from this young chick saying: "Thank you, oh thank you for getting me to see Herman, etc."
Apparently what happened was that together with hundreds of other girls, she was waiting outside the hotel in Australia with no chance until Harvey, one of Herman's managers, pushed by and she pushed my letter into his hand.
Ten minutes later Harvey came dashing out. "Who gave me this?"
"Me! Me!" screamed the girl. "Well, come and meet Herman if you're a friend of Jimmy's," says Harvey.
So the happiest teenage gal in Australia spent an hour with her idol.
And all done from 12,000 miles away. How about that?
