RUMOURS WERE this week sweeping the pop world that happy Herman, the toothy pop star with the million pound smile, had taken the plunge and become married ... at 18!
    But, as the most eligible bachelor in the country after Beatle Paul and Stone Mick, he was adamant in denying the fact.
    "You must be joking," he laughed over the phone from Manchester. "Me married? Where on earth did you pick that up?"

Future marriage plans

    We explained that we'd heard from a very reliable source that he'd wed an English model secretly about a month ago.
    "Well, it's not true. I'm only 18, you know!" he declared. Well, had he any plans for getting married in the near future? He was non-committal.
    "If I found the right girl - and felt that strongly I might. But I haven't yet."
    Were there any steady girl-friends then?
    "I go out with girls just like anybody else. There's no-one particular though."

'Career too important'

    What about his controversial friendship with pop singer Twinkle? Was it still blossoming?
    Said Herman: "We were just friends. And that's all there was to it. I wasn't in love with her, if that's what you mean!"
    He did reveal, however, that if he decided to settle down, it wouldn't interrupt his career.
    "I WOULDN'T LET MARRIAGE INTERFERE WITH MY WORK AS AN ENTERTAINER," HE SAID. "IT'S MUCH TOO IMPORTANT TO ME."
