WHEN everyone was talking of the "young love" romance between one Herman Noone and one Twinkle Ripley I steered clear of the story. But now I'm not too sure.     What makes me think there's something afoot, months after it was supposed to be all over?     A very well informed friend tells me that Twinkle received almost daily phone calls while she was in Australia from Herman, who was in America at the time. But this friend also informed me that it "was finished" again by phone before Twinkle returned to Britain.     Certainly Twinkle was claiming "no love lost" when I approached her. But then they were seen together yet again at a Kensington party last Saturday.

HERMAN'S HERMITSwill fly out to America on July 18 to film their guest spots for the MGM film, "Girl Crazy." They are making the trip slightly earlier than planned to complete the filming before they start their scheduled American tour with WAYNE FONTANA on July 22.     An additional date for Herman's Hermits is a DANNY KAYE TV Show on August 13 and 14.     Herman's Hermits will feature two or three new songs in "Girl Crazy," which also starS CONNIE FRANCIS, PAUL ANKA, LOUIS ARMSTRONG and LIBERACE.

HERMAN'S HERMITS, very young-looking and suntanned, could do with another big hit here - but could also take a few lessons in miming from Gene.
