WHAT does a Hermit do when he's lonely? Well, one answer is that he puts in a call to mom and dad back in England and tells them to fly out to Hollywood for a short vacation. Multiply this situation by five and you have the musical quintet known as Herman's Hermits - plus all ten of their parents. Gathering place for the Hermits and their parents was a Beverly Hills mansion which the musical lads are renting for their Hollywood stay, the same mansion formerly rented by the Beatles during their appearances on the coast.
Among the pop music groups that have followed the Beatles' trail, Herman and Co. are among the most popular. Since they left Manchester, England, a little more than a year ago, Herman's Hermits have toured the world. Recently they hit Hollywood and stopped to make two movies - "When The Boys Meet The Girls" and "There's No Place Like Space."
Meanwhile, their two new records, the single "Just A Little Bit Better," and album, "On Tour," climbed on the music sales charts. So the Hermits knew they'd be busy away from home for quite a while. Since none of them is married, the boys solved their homesickness by having their parents - and Herman's little sister - join them in California to soak up sun, swimming and other delights.
